Baked Gulab Jamun (easy recipe)

This a traditional Indian dessert "baked instead of fried" One of India's most popular sweets, Gulab Jamun is a milk based ball, that is baked (zero oil) & soaked in scented syrup. The key to a good Gulab Jamun is a soft texture.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes

Serves: 3

INGREDIENTS


  • Sugar – 1 cup

  • Water – 1 & ½ cup

  • Crushed Cardamom – ½ tsp

  • Ghee – ½ tsp

  • Gulab Jamun ready mix – 1 cup

  • Milk – as required (to make soft dough)



STEPS



Sugar Syrup

  1. Heat a pan add sugar, water & crushed cardamom, then bring it to boil and keep aside.

Gulab Jamun

  1. Sift the flour mix and transfer it to a large bowl.

  2. Now add the milk gradually to make a soft dough.

  3. Once the dough is ready, add warm ghee and knead the dough for a few minutes.

  4. Keep the dough ball between the greased plate inside the air fryer.

  5. Air fry the Gulab jamun for 5 minutes at 350F and then flip and cook the other side for another 5 minutes. (total 10 mins).

  6. As soon as you fry the jamuns, transfer them to a cooling rack and let them stand for just 2-minutes.

  7. Now add the dough balls to the sugar syrup.

  8. Let the jamun balls stand in the syrup for at least 10-minutes to get soaked well.

  9. Serve Gulab jamuns warm or at room temperature & enjoy.
